A long-time client was dealing with the demands of managing her chronic health condition. She steadfastly maintained her independence, but increasingly wanted to lighten the burden of maintaining a household, attending to meal preparation, and driving long distances to see her doctors.
We discussed the merits of continuing care retirement communities located near her healthcare providers. We initiated exploratory visits and were a second set of ears and eyes to help her anticipate life in a new setting. We researched and explained the financial aspects of taking residence. We then helped her select a unit and negotiated a reasonable period for reflection before making a final decision. Once a decision was made, she and her family were happy with it.
